1. What made you decide to go into the mental health field?

I have always been interested in what makes people tick. I struggled for a long time in my marriage and never wanted to get divorced or have my kids come from a divorced home. When I got divorced and needed to go back to work, I decided that I didn’t want other families to experience the fate my family did, so I went to school to become a marriage counselor. I received a free training during school through the Center for Deployment Psychology on trauma therapy and I was hooked on treating trauma. I specialize in both and thoroughly enjoy both areas.

2. If you didn't choose this field what else do you think you would have pursued?

Flipping houses.

3. What's your favorite color?

All things pink!

4. Do you have any pets?

One crazy cat. My friends call me the Crazy Cat Lady but again, ONE cat at a time!

5. Top Bucket List Item?

Travel – anything historical.

6. Best place you have ever visited and why?

Europe as a kid. It was fascinating to me.

7. Any regrets?

Mistreating my grandmother at my high school graduation. It still makes me cringe. I can’t regret anything else because all mistakes have lessons built into them. Without them, we wouldn’t have the lesson.

8. If you had to give advice to your 20 year old self what would it be?

Choose carefully who you marry and don’t ever yell at your kids.  EVER.

1. What made you decide to go into the mental health field?

What made you decide to go into the mental health field?  It was kind of by default. I really wanted to be a physician but got my undergrad in Psychology and got hooked in the field. I did a post-Bacc pre-med program but still couldn’t let go of my desire to work with people on a more intimate, on-going basis.

2. If you didn't choose this field what else do you think you would have pursued?

Medicine or interior design.. I really enjoy decorating.

3. What's your favorite color?

Whats your favorite color? Hmm, metallics and neutrals really catch my eye.

4. Do you have any pets?

Yes, two dogs. A great Pyrenees and a Yorkie. I like to cover all sides of the spectrum.

5. Top Bucket List Item?

The tippy top of the list is a trip to Bali but Greece is a close second.

6. Best place you have ever visited and why?

Best place you have ever visited and why? Ireland. I love collecting seashells and Mullaghmore Beach was close to heaven for me.

7. Any regrets?

A few. I wish my 20 year old self met my 30 year self before my 20’s.

8. If you had to give advice to your 20 year old self what would it be?

Saying “no” to people won’t be as hurtful to them as it ultimately will be to you. I had to learn that loving someone sometimes includes saying “no” verses believing loving them meant they were entitled to my entire being. I loved people better than I loved myself. (Make no mistakes this is still a process for me.)
